Kristina Simpson, VP

Kristina Simpson has 15 years of experience the healthcare setting with a focus in Perioperative Care, Cardiac Care, Compliance/Regulatory Requirements, Quality Assurance, Nursing Informatics, Education and Magnet Status Requirements.

Kristina has her Masters of Science in Nursing Education (MSN), is a Certified Nurse in the Operating Room (CNOR) and a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant (CLNC) is academically trained as a Faith Community Nurse (FCN). After an initial foundational training on a Surgical Telemetry step-down ward, Kristina focused her clinical skills in Surgical Services, where she joined the Open Heart (Cardiovascular, Vascular and Thoracic) Surgical team. She spent 4 years as the educator for Perioperative Services with over 200 employees, and focused much of her time on accreditation and regulatory and compliance requirements, nursing informatics, quality assurance and education for visiting disciplines including: Surgical Technology, Nursing, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Residents and more. Kristina then moved into nursing leadership. She first worked as OR Manager with 15 OR Suites and 2 Procedural Rooms. Her team included 97 employees and 15 direct reports. Kristina’s most recent role as Interim Magnet Program Director at Winchester Medical Center resulted in a successful Magnet Status Redesignation. Presently, in addition to her role at DFSI, Kristina is Adjunct Faculty for a local nursing program, Lord Fairfax Community College.

Outside of work, Kristina also leads a very busy life. She has 2 beautiful children, who are the light of her life. Along with her husband and children, Kristina lives in Winchester, VA. She is one of the founders, trustees and board members at Legacy Christian Academy in Stephens City, VA, and she devotes much of her time to the newly established school. Kristina is also a national recording artist and released her album, “This Time” in June, 2014. Presently, she plays piano and sings in the local band, “316”.
